Winter roads are built over frozen lakes and tundra. They offer an economical alternative to air supply for areas not on the regular road system. Each year, RTL builds and maintains winter roads to deliver fuel, equipment and other goods to remote locations, including the diamond mines in the Northwest Territories. RTL has over 35 years of experience in ice road route selection, construction and maintenance.

Although RTL considers winter road construction to be a normal part of our operations, this unique process has attracted interest from authors, media and other groups throughout Canada, the United States and Europe.
