River Shuttle

Materials shipped north on the Mackenzie Highway must be ferried across the Mackenzie River or cross the river during the winter on an ice road. However, during the thawing of the Mackenzie River, when the ferry cannot operate and the winter road is closed, vital materials  are shuttled across the river using a system designed and operated by RTL. Our experienced staff oversee the logistics of the river shuttle process and use RTL custom designed air cradles to move pallets of materials form existing truckloads on the south side of the river to awaiting trucks on the north side, via helicopter. This process allows for businesses in the north to maintain their supply of stock, such as groceries, and to avoid the increased expenses associated with shipping materials by air.
